The Haunt: Dig a Pony

Location of the Haunting: 58 Ballarat Street, Yarraville, Melbourne

The restaurant was totally booked out, but they managed to squeeze us in for dessert. The effort on their part was much appreciated.

We ordered the melting chocolate pudding with white chocolate sauce ($11). This dessert has a fifteen minute wait, but I didn’t mind. Good things take time.

Somewhere in the middle of our chitter chatter, the delectable delight showed up.

This is one of those cakes that looks all pretty and brilliant from the outside, and a part of you dies when you put your spoon through it cause you know that you’re going to ruin the pretty little thing, but you can’t wait to do it because all that chocolate sauce is just waiting to ooze out.

I don’t like ranting. I really don’t, but I can’t help myself. This cake was just divine, and exactly what I needed. It also wasn’t too sweet, so I could actually taste the chocolate, and not just all that sugar.

This was only my second time in Yarraville, and I haven’t tried any of the mains at Dig a Pony, but I’d totally come back for this cake.

That, and also next time I won’t offer to share this cake with anyone else. To each his own.
