dumplings on my table

The Haunt: Dumpling Table in Melbourne

Location of the Haunting: 210 Toorak Road, South Yarra

Don’t head to this restaurant with ridiculously high expectations of being swept off your feet. It’s a no-frills kind of place that’s perfect for a quick meal that won’t hurt your wallet.

The menu speaks for itself, but there’s quite a few dishes on there, so don’t be shy to ask for recommendations. Or, you could do what I did and check out what the other diners are eating before you make your decision.

I ordered the chicken and prawn wantons in soup ($8.80). The soup was pleasant and decorated with what I believed was seaweed. The wantons themselves were light, fresh and sumptuous. There were 15 pieces in there, so be sure to bring along company, even if only to share your food.

I also ordered the spicy pork sauce with noodle ($9.80), which turned out to be some sort of a Chinese bolognese. It was worth a shot, but it was a little salty for my taste.

I’ll head back here for the dumplings. They were definitely a winner in my books. The fact that it didn’t hurt my wallet was a real bonus.
